Understanding the game

Use your strategic mind to pass through the levels to achieve the end goal and prevent the orcs from passing through the volcano. You are the last line of defence for the village. Strategically place turrets to fight off waves of enemy orcs trying to pass through and purge the village. Fight your way to the final level, where you will be tested to manage resources and upgrades to your turrets and abilities.

Process of Composition

I wanted to create the same effect achieved with Tower Defence. I wanted to create a difference between the menu and gameplay. Menu music consisted of an ensemble of strings whilst the gameplay loop had driving percussion to keep the intensity high. I took a more traditional approach with the music to suit the artistic direction of the game. It needed classical instruments such as violins, violas and cellos.

Integration

The music is implemented through Unreal Engines audio class system. The loop is mixed in the game so that it will always be in the backround but not hinder the sound effects or stand out too much.
