Understanding the game

Dungeon Arena is a fast-paced third person hack and slash game. Battle in wave after wave as a guardian, fending off increasingly strong monsters. Weapon pickups will make life a lot easier. Make sure you collect the health potions - if an enemy manages to land a hit on you, you won't get your health back. Collect as many souls as you can to achieve the highest score possible. Use Mana to fight off enemies with special attacks.

Process of Composition

With Dungeon Arena I wanted to urge the player to carry on. I used percussion to convey urgency in the music so the player would feel on edge whilst playing. This would heighten the intensity of the gameplay

Integration

The music was implemented through Unreal Engines audio engine through the class system. I set the music as an audio cue, which is linked to the class system and this determines what the music is (SFX, Music, Ambience, etc.). The music was set to loop continuously and was used on the menu as well. It would also play through the cinematic sequence at the start of the game to entice the player into the game.
